2007 Meetings

Over the course of each year the EQC conducts meetings and public forums where recommendations and resolutions are promulgated. Additionally, the commission addresses questions/concerns posed by citizens during the meetings.   

Jan. 25, 2007 - Meeting included presentations by representatives from state government and community groups on the topic of watershed management.  During the meeting, citizens raised concerns that the EQC staff have addressed.

  • March 19, 2007 - Letter answering citizens' concerns.
  • March 19, 2007 - Answers to frequently asked questions about stream buffer zone variances. 

April 20, 2007 - Annual Earth Day celebration.

May 10, 2007 - Meeting included discussion of energy issues in the commonwealth.  Presentations were given by Lloyd Cress (Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet), Karen Wilson (Governor's Office of Energy Policy), John Davies (Governor's Office of Energy Policy), Mick Henderson (Commonwealth Agri-Energy), John Wright (Owensboro Grain Biodiesel), Rusty Ashcraft (Alliance Coal Company), John Talbert (Big Rivers Electric Corporation) and Don Challman (UK Center for Applied Energy Research).  During the meeting, citizens raised concerns that the EQC staff have addressed.  EQC commissioners also voted on regulatory packages from three divisions.  Audio files of the meeting are available here and here.

Aug. 8-9, 2007 - Meeting included updates from various cabinet divisions and planning for the next fiscal year.  Briefings for the upcoming year were presented by John Lyons (Division for Air Quality), Pete Goodmann (Division of Water) and Bruce Scott (Division of Waste Management).  Dr. Rodney Andrews of the UK Center for Applied Energy Research also spoke on the topic of coal gasification and liquefaction.  A tentative schedule for the meetings for the upcoming year is provided here
